Anne
Anne McCallum is an artist living in Nug Nug, on Mogullumbidj land in North East Victoria. Working across textiles, sculpture, photography and video, she has exhibited at Centre of Contemporary Photography Melbourne; in World Cyanotype Day Exhibitions in Texas, New Orleans and Brisbane; at Kingston Arts; Photography Studies College Gallery Southbank; Brunswick St. Gallery, Wolfhound Gallery Fitzroy, Head On Photo Festival Sydney, Burrinja Cultural centre in Upwey, Anglesea Art Space Anglesea Vic., and Bright Art Gallery in Bright Victoria.
In January 2020 Anne was an Artist in Residence on the Isle of Iona in Scotland, and in February 2021 at Gunyah in New South Wales, Australia. In May 2021, Anne was the Artist in Residence at the Bogong Centre for Sound Culture in Bogong Village, Victoria. October 2022, saw Anne participating in an Artist in Residence opportunity in the village of Ano Asites on the island of Crete, Greece.
An exhibition opportunity presented itself for 2023 with the Between Two Sites group show at Burrinja Cultural Centre, Upwey, Melbourne. For this exhibition, Anne created an installation titled - Ecotone, which utilised different techniques such as twining and weaving and eco-printing. This exhibition won the Victorian Museums and Galleries Small Project Award for 2024. Later in the year, July 2023, there was another group exhibition at Wolfhound Gallery in Brunswick, Melbourne - this was a photographic exhibition where Anne presented a group of images titled - Quisisana -where one is healed, where she talked about the healing power of flowers.
In 2024, Anne was part of the group exhibition - Leaf Curling Spiders at Anglesea Art Space. She also exhibited in Bright in the Alpine Artists Spring Show and followed that by entering their Summer Show where she won the award for Best Mixed Media & Digital ( Tendrils) and received a Highly commended with her Cyanotype “Wisteria” in the photography section.
